Self-Charging Shoe
Inspired by taking more frequent walks during COVID and wanting to turn the kinetic movement into electricity that could potentially power a cell phone.
The concept is based on Faraday's law of induction. As the magnets move past the coil of wire the magnetic field induces a current in the coil of wire. A bridge circuit is set up to ensure no matter which way the current is flowing through the wire that it is captured by capacitors and then transferred to the battery for storage.
Overall, a minimal amount of charge was produced during initial trials. The design would need to be scaled up, by increasing magnet power or significantly increasing the number of wraps in the copper wire.
